The Boston Fern is an elegant Victorian favourite, sometimes called the Sword fern. It has graceful, arching, green fronds with a ruffled appearance that is best displayed in a hanging basket or on a stand where it can cascade over the edge.

Description
Light
Nephrolepis are reasonably comfortable in a wide range of light conditions, anywhere from bright, indirect sunlight to light shade.
Watering
Keep the soil moist at all times. Water when the surface becomes slightly dry. Do not overwater and use lukewarm, soft water where possible.
Temperature
The Boston Fern prefers average household temperatures: between 16-24°C, but do not allow to fall lower than 12°C. Avoid cold draughts.
Humidity
Prefers higher humidity and doesn’t do well in dry air. Do not place near radiators, etc. Group with other plants in your kitchen or bathroom to help increase humidity levels.
Feed
Liquid fertiliser can be applied occasionally during the growing season.

Exaltata Bostoniensis is a fast-growing fern which typically reaches an ultimate height of around 1 metre.
