Description
Light
Guzmania Variada prefers bright, filtered light but avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. While it can withstand shade, it is not ideal for promoting growth.
Watering
Allow the top of the soil to dry out slightly before watering. Use distilled water or rainwater where possible. Also water the central reservoir in the plant’s rosette.
Temperature
Guzmania prefer warmer household temperatures of between 18°C to 24°C – never below 12°C. Avoid hot & cold draughts that can stress the plant.
Humidity
Bromelia enjoy increased levels of humidity. Mist regularly or sit by the shower for an added boost from time to time.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of liquid fertiliser once or twice a month during the growing season.
Height & Growth Rate
This plant is slow to moderate-growing and typically reaches an ultimate height of around 40-60cm.
