Description
Light
Dieffenbachia enjoy bright, indirect light but can tolerate light shade. Lower light levels reduce the rate of growth and dull the leaf variegation. Direct sunlight will scorch the leaves.
Watering
The soil should be lightly moist at all times, but not soggy. Water when the top of the soil starts to dry out.
Temperature
Prefers warm to higher temperatures, ideally between 18-24°C but can cope with as low as 10°C for short periods. Avoid draughts.
Humidity
Normal to increased humidity levels work best. Dieffenbachia will relish the occasional misting and the use of a pebble tray.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of a fertiliser about once a month during the growing season.
Height & Growth Rate
Dieffenbachia Compacta has an ultimate height of 45-60cm. Moderately fast growing.
Toxicity
Leaves and sap are toxic and should not be ingested. Keep away from children and animals.
Origin
Dieffenbachia Compacta originates from Tropical America.
